Greg Haines, DVM

I grew up in Nova Scotia, Canada and became attached to horses through standardbred racing at a young age.  Wanting to pursue a career in the standardbred industry, I obtained my veterinary degree from the Ontario Veterinary College.  Upon graduation, I joined the Ottawa Valley Large Animal Clinic in Kemptville, Ontario.  While there, I performed all forms of general equine practice including standardbred race track work.

After five years in the Ottawa Valley, I began a surgical internship at the Illinois Equine Hospital and Clinic in Naperville.  The following year I worked at the Illinois Equine Field Service in Elburn in ambulatory practice.  It was during his time in Illinois that I met and became friends with Dr. Kuesis.

I ventured to Gainesville, Florida to complete a large animal surgery residency and became board certified by the American College of Veterinary Surgeons. I remained in Gainesville for an additional four years as a clinical instructor in large animal surgery.

In 2004, I was hired by the Dubai Equine Hospital in Dubai. While there, I worked in a referral practice setting performing elective and emergency surgery as well as lameness and scintigraphy interpretation.

I returned to the U.S. in the summer of 2014 to join the Pilchuck Veterinary Hospital in Snohomish, Washington as an associate veterinarian/surgeon.  My duties included a heavy emphasis on emergencies. In addition, I continued to perform elective and emergency surgery.  During the pandemic, I started to  assume more ambulatorily responsibilities.

I joined Mission Equine in 2022, where I enjoy collaborating with the Mission Team and serving our dedicated clients. With every day presenting new opportunities to support equine health, I am inspired by the trust placed in us by our clients and their horses. I look forward to many more sunny days in Santa Barbara.
